The popular ‘mathe wa Ngara’ has finally been arrested by DCI officials this Monday evening after a manhunt was launched.
According to reports, the famed businesswoman is being detained at DCI headquarters after being arrested in Nairobi’s central business district. She is arrested in suspicion of being linked to what the DCI described as an anti-narcotics operation carried out last week in Ngara where police recovered 26 bags of cannabis, 4 cartons of rolling materials, 173 packaged sweets, and a carton of suspected weed cookies and arrested other suspects.

Nancy Kigunzu alias ‘mathe wa Ngara’ is set to spend the night in police custody as she awaits her day in court. She was arrested on Monday evening despite requesting anticipatory bail in court to prevent her detention earlier in the day. She had petitioned the high court, claiming that the police were trying to arrest her as a kind of intimidation.

According to Nancy Kigunzu, who testified in court that she was only an entrepreneur and had committed no crimes, she learnt about her impending arrest through social media.
