NCIC names a Kenya Eminent Panel for Peace to be facilitating dialogue and mediation between disputing parties and fostering solutions to political disputes

National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) chairperson Samuel Kobia has named a 15 members panel meant for oversight of the elections and fostering mediation in cases politically related.

Representing the NCIC Kobia called on Kenyans to vote massively while respecting the IEBC guidelines stipulated for guidance through the process to a well-coordinated and transparent election.

“We call on the Kenyan voters to listen to and comply with the instructions of IEBC on how to conduct themselves regarding the elections. Let us cooperate with the official instructions of the IEBC to ensure that the election process is completed well and transparently. We also highly welcome the various observer missions, which are here to observe the Kenyan election,” NCIC said in a statement.

The Kenya Eminent Panel for Peace will be facilitating dialogue and mediation between disputing parties and fostering solutions to political disputes while Kenyans are urged to embrace peace as they respect and uphold rule of law.

A 15-member panel is to be led by Convener Ambassador Francis Muthaura and his Co-convener Justice (Rtd) Joyce Aluoch. Who will be assisted closely by faith leaders within the committee Archbishop Anthony Muheria, Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit, and Archbishop Phillip Anyolo.

In cases there are disputes, peace and reconciliation are to be exercised by Bishop Emeritus Stephen Kewasis who is to provide his expert services to the panel. As he closely assisted closely in mediation proficiency by Lt Gen (Rtd) Daniel Opande and Lt Gen (Rtd) Lazarus Sumbeiywo.

Fatuma Abdikadir is the panel’s expert in sports for peace faith, with Dr. Vimal Shah named the panel’s corporate leader. Governance expert Catherine Musakali and public engagement expert Chancellor Robert Mutula are also part of the body.

The named panel is mandated with the facilitation of communication between any disputing parties if there be as they oversee negotiations for common positions mainly serving the citizens’ well-being.
