Kenyan songstress Avril has denied rumours that she dated Tanzanian artist Naseeb Abdul Juma, better known by his stage name Diamond Platnumz.
The singer acknowledged in an online interview that she had been asked such questions on numerous occasions, adding that the problem was brought on by several old pictures of the two performers cuddling up.
“I deny all rumours going round that I have ever dated Diamond. He is just a good friend,” stressed Avril.
The Kenyan singer also said she hasn’t spoken to Diamond in a while.
“We don’t talk, but if I call him or he calls me we do have a friendly conversation and we help each other where need be.”
The mother of one also acknowledged that Diamond has been a valuable asset to her musical career.
“I always send him a track before I release it because I value his opinion.”
Avril was first featured as a model in Diamond’s video Kwetu, which is when the dating rumors started.
Avril recently admitted she has a soft spot for Kenyan musician Nyashinski, also known by his stage name Nyamari Ongegu.
“I don’t want to say that I have a crush on him but I love Nyashinski in terms of his content, his demeanour,” she said.
Avril has been successful in keeping her love life a private. She once dated Tinashe Leslie Mugadza, a well-known businessman from South Africa who went by the nickname Muga. She attributed their break-up to cultural issues.
Some years back the single mom acknowledged Jibril Blessing’s special day on Instagram while teasing that she consults him for advice. J Blessing, who serves as the CEO of the Kenyan headphone company Pace Africa, was also seen in a number of photos posted by Avril.
