UDA leaders hire crowds in rallies – Moses Kuria

By Benjy Kwabe,

Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has hit out at DP Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance after divisions in concern with the Kiambu County gubernatorial.

The currently estranged MP says the Kenya Kwanza alliance thrives on transporting supporters to political rallies, especially in the Mount Kenya region.

“I think there is a problem that is happening in Kenya Kwanza which for me I found unfortunate, I vowed never to engage in. Whereby we transport… We are having nine meetings in three constituencies of four constituencies. And then somebody tags along with their supporters, their fans… I feel, my position is if I am going for a meeting in Limuru I should go just alone so that I can be able to see whether I got legitimate supporters in Limuru. And that’s what I do,” Kuria said.

The Gatundu South MP said using buses to transport supporters from one place to another just for the impression of having a crowd is misleading in reality.

Kuria said the act of hiring crowds from one place to another just for impressions is a failure for a leader and that lier the citizens and that going to a place for campaigns allowed one to comprehend their true following in a region or place.

Kuria’s sentiments come in the midst of the Gatundu South MP and William Kabogo‘s recent frustrations at the United Democratic Alliance’s leadership, labeling them dictators.

Kuria highlighted the power struggles within Kenya Kwanza alliance in the battle for Kiambu gubernatorial seat as the gubernatorial race has pitted three Kenya Kwanza alliance members against each other; Kimani Wamatangi of UDA, Kabogo of Tujibebe Party, and Kuria who is vying on the Chama Cha Kazi party ticket.

“The problem is first of all, you distort what I call in my other language market dynamics, because you don’t really get to know whether you’ve got real supporters on the ground. Second thing, what does it do to me who is not transporting these people? You know it looks like it’s a Kabogo versus Wamatangi thing.” Moses kuria further lamented.
